What's the actual real-world difference between Level 1 and Level 2 charging?

danny_ho
Trying to understand what actually changes day to day between Level 1 and Level 2, beyond just the obvious 'one's faster.' For anyone who's used both -- was the difference mostly about charging speed, or did it change how you think about charging altogether? And is Level 1 genuinely fine for some people, or does everyone end up wanting Level 2 eventually?

Level 1 is fine if you don't drive much. We have three EVs and I still charge mostly off 120V with a $50 extension cord from Home Depot. I only commute 8 miles, so I put back about 20% a night and never think about it.

I used the included Level 1 cord for my daily commute for a long time and it was fine. The one thing I noticed was that the plug slowly worked itself loose from the outlet over time. If it's not seated all the way, that's where the heat comes from. Check it every so often.
