Took delivery of my R2 three weeks ago and the paperwork mentioned charging accessories exactly once, in a footnote pointing me to the accessories store. No portable charger in the frunk, nothing on the delivery checklist either. I'd assumed it would come with one because my first Rivian, an R1T from 2022, shipped with a mobile charger in a soft case that lived behind the second row for three years.
Called my delivery advisor to ask if mine got lost somewhere in the handoff. She confirmed it plainly: 2026 model year vehicles don't ship with a portable charger anymore, portable and Wall Charger are both sold separately now as accessories. Rivian's own site frames it as 'more choice for how you charge,' which is generous phrasing for 'you're paying extra either way.'
I've got a 14-50 in the garage from a dryer circuit that never got used for a dryer, so I'm not stuck, just annoyed at guessing which portable to buy without any blessing from Rivian on which ones actually work well. For everyone who's already been through this, what are you actually running day to day, and is anyone regretting going the Wall Charger route instead?
