Wall Connector or third-party -- did anyone regret going non-Tesla?

About to install and the Tesla Wall Connector is roughly $150 more than the third-party unit I was looking at. Not huge but not nothing, and honestly the third-party one has a longer cable which matters for my garage geometry. But: Tesla just works with Tesla, the app integration is one less thing to fight with, and I've read enough posts about third-party units randomly dropping charging sessions to be nervous. Anyone using a non-Tesla Level 2 at home for a year+ and wishing they'd just paid up? Or does the third-party stuff hold up fine and I'm buying into forum FUD?

Had the Wall Connector with the M3 and the Y. Zero issues in 4+ years, but that's also true of most of the decent third-party units. What's the third-party one? Brand matters more than Tesla vs not-Tesla.

Different car (leased Mach-E) so take this with that in mind -- but my L2 has been on the wall about a year and a half and I can't think of a single night it failed me. My guess is a lot of the "dropped session" posts are really people fighting with the charger app and the car's scheduler at the same time. I set off-peak in the car and never touched the charger app again after setup. For what it's worth my bill went from roughly $120/month in gas to about $60 in electricity, and nearly all of that is the TOU window doing the work, not the box on the wall. The box is honestly the least interesting part of home charging. The bigger cost risk is the install. If your panel needs work to fit a 50 amp breaker you can be looking at $1000-1500 before you've bought anything, and that dwarfs the $150 difference. I'd get that quote first and then pick the charger.

First quote I got was $5k, I paid under $700 in the end. Get more than one quote, that's where the real money is

It's a Grizzl-E. Electrician already came out, panel's fine, he said either one is the same job for him. @greg_whitaker did you ever use the power sharing on the Wall Connector or is that just a spec sheet thing? We might end up with a second EV in a couple years

I never bought a wall unit at all. 40 amp line, EV rated outlet, cord that came with the car. It's been fine.

Grizzl-E is basically a metal box with a cable on it, not a lot to break

Never used it, only ever had one EV at a time. If the second car isn't a Tesla you're on an adapter anyway.

Power sharing works, but most two-EV households don't really need it. Both cars almost never need a big charge on the same night. We just alternate.

We have 3 EVs and 1 hardwired charger outside. Whoever is lowest gets plugged in. In two years nobody has been stuck. I wouldn't spend extra now for a car you might buy in a couple years.
