I've had off-street parking at my place in Hobart for about eleven years and never had a reason to think about it until my old Corolla needed a transmission rebuilt this year and I decided that was the sign to finally look at going electric instead of sinking more into a fourteen-year-old car. I've spent the last six weeks reading everything I can find and I keep noticing that most of what gets argued about in comparison threads is 0-60 numbers, max range on the spec sheet, and which brand has the best infotainment screen. None of that tells me anything about whether this is the right car for my actual life.
My daily driving is the school and back, maybe 25km most days, occasionally a weekend trip to see my daughter in Launceston. I'm not chasing anything flashy, I just want to understand what I should actually be weighing before I put down a deposit, because every YouTube review makes it sound like the range number is the whole decision and I'm not sure that's true for someone who mostly just needs to get to work and back. What did you actually end up caring about once you owned one, versus what you thought would matter before you bought?
