Installed vs plug-in at home -- which did you actually go with?

Torn between hardwired and the plug-in kind. Electrician quoted almost the same -- $1,600 for hardwired, $1,700 for the plug-in because he wants to install a new receptacle either way to be code-compliant on the load calc. Plug-in seems obvious for portability if I move. But everyone I know who has a plug-in eventually leaves it plugged in for years and it's basically hardwired anyway. Meanwhile the hardwired unit is $200 cheaper up front and slightly higher amperage. What did you end up doing? And if you went plug-in, have you ever actually unplugged it and moved it, or was that just a theoretical future benefit you paid for and never used?

Hardwired. Mine is 2 feet from the car port and the only time I've touched it since install is to hang the cable back up. If I move, it's a breaker flip and a few screws and I can cap the wires. Honestly I'd probably just leave it for the next owner.
