Just had a plug-in Level 2 charger installed, but now I'm reading horror stories -- should I get it swapped to hardwired?

Electrician installed a NEMA 14-50 outlet and I'm using a plug-in charger, mostly because it was faster to schedule and I liked the idea of being able to take the charger with me if we ever move. Now I'm three weeks in and down a rabbit hole of posts showing melted outlets and scorched plugs, and I'm second-guessing the whole decision. The outlet itself looks fine, no discoloration, and the electrician said it was torqued properly, but I have no way to actually verify that myself. Is this a real enough risk that I should pay to have it redone as hardwired, or is a correctly installed plug-in setup genuinely just as safe as everyone with a working one says it is? Trying to figure out if I'm about to spend another $300-400 on paranoia or on something I'll be glad I did in five years.

I'd already read enough of those same horror stories that I went hardwired from day 1, so take this with a grain of salt. The thing about a 14-50 is that it can look perfect from the front right up until it doesn't. The failure is behind the faceplate where you can't see it. If it were me I'd spend the money and never think about it again.
