Good news, my landlord actually signed off on putting in a 240V outlet for my new EV. Bad news, the amendment he had me sign is oddly specific — "no damage to interior walls or outlet plates," word for word. I'm guessing he's had a bad experience with a previous tenant's project because it's way more detailed than I expected for something this small.
I started digging into charger types after that and now I'm second-guessing the wall-mount unit I already had my eye on. Apparently the weight of some of these hardwired or plug-in wall chargers puts constant strain on the box and outlet plate over time, cord tension pulling down on it every time you unplug the car. Is a lighter, more portable unit where the bulk sits at the car end instead of hanging off the wall actually the safer move here, or am I overthinking a $30 plastic cover? Anyone dealt with a lease clause this specific?
