What does EV charging actually look like for apartment dwellers who can't install anything permanent?

Trying to get a realistic picture of what charging actually looks like for people in apartments, since most guides seem to assume you can install something. For anyone actually doing this -- what's the setup that's actually worked, and is portable charging genuinely enough, or does everyone end up relying on nearby public chargers too?

Apartment, no garage. Went from a Bolt to an EV9 and I've never had home charging with either one. I just charge wherever I already am. I'll do 20-30 min at the DC chargers by the grocery store, and that's usually ~20% to 85%. Road trips are the same thing, only more of it. Portable never really came up for me because there's no outlet anywhere near where I park.

I have L2 in my garage and I still charge at a county L2 0.9 miles away most of the time. It's 13 cents per kWh there and 24 at home. I drop the car off, walk home, and walk the dog back over later to pick it up. So yes, public can be the main thing even when you do have home charging. It depends completely on what's near you.
