My wife and I are driving from Nashville to Denver to see her sister, three days, first trip anywhere close to this long since I got the Mach-E last year. Route's mapped in ABRP with six stops split between Electrify America and Supercharger via the NACS adapter, overnight in Springfield, Missouri the first night and Salina, Kansas the second. When we started planning I guessed it'd be around 800 miles total, turns out ABRP has us just over 1,000 once you account for the actual highway routing, which was its own small surprise.
I mentioned I was also picking up a portable EVSE to bring along just in case, and my wife looked at me like I was overpacking for a trip that's already fully mapped out stop by stop. So, genuinely asking the people who've done this more than me — is a portable charger actually smart backup for a trip like this, or is it one of those things we all buy because Reddit talks us into range anxiety when the actual infrastructure along a route like this is fine these days?
