Is it actually safe (and practical) to charge an EV from a dryer outlet?

Trying to get a straight answer on whether charging off a dryer outlet is something people actually do safely, or if it's one of those things that technically works but isn't a good idea long-term. For anyone who's actually tried it -- what adapter did you need, how fast did it actually charge, and would you keep doing it if you had another option?

Did it for a while on my Model 3 before the wall connector got installed. I used the Tesla mobile connector with the 14-30 adapter. The adapter tells the connector it's on a 30A circuit, so it caps at 24A by itself and you don't have to set anything. I think it was low 20s miles per hour of charge? Full every morning anyway. The thing I'd actually worry about is the generic pigtail adapters - a 14-50 EVSE plugged into a 14-30 through a $20 Amazon adapter has no clue it's on a smaller circuit. So you're counting on the breaker to catch it.
