So I manage commercial properties for a living but apparently that doesn't help me understand my own building's rules. Property management just sent a notice citing the fire marshal — no new Level 2 charging stations or hardware installs in the garage, effective immediately. I don't even have anything installed yet, I was still in the process of getting approval for one.
My spot is in an indoor, climate-controlled section of the garage, so I figured I was fine. Now I'm stuck. Does this mean I can't charge in there at all anymore, or just that they won't let me put in an actual charger box? I saw something about Denver doing the same thing to a bunch of buildings, so I don't think this is just my property being difficult.
Can I still just run a regular portable charger into an outlet that's already down there? Or does "no EV charging equipment" cover that too? I don't want to get anyone in the building in trouble over this, I just want to know what's actually allowed.
