Finally getting around to wiring up the workshop out back — pouring the slab was the easy part, apparently. Adding EV charging while I'm at it since the Model Y just sits in the driveway right now and I'd rather charge overnight without running an extension cord across the yard. My electrician quoted a 14-50, said the neutral gives me flexibility down the road. I watched about six YouTube videos over the weekend and half of them say a 6-50 is simpler and does the same job for straight EV charging, no neutral needed.
My husband just wants it done and doesn't care which one, so I'm the one stuck deciding. Is the neutral wire on the 14-50 actually doing anything for charging the Model Y, or is it purely a "might plug in a welder someday" kind of upgrade? Trying to figure out if I'm overpaying for wire I don't need.
